Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd
9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The 2025 Northeastern NC Craft Workshop will be held on Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd at the Vernon G James Research and Extension Center, located at 207 Research Station Road, off Highway 32N, in Plymouth, NC. Registration is on a “first come – first served” basis and can fill up quickly. Registration fees are nonrefundable, but are transferable.
Registration forms and registration fees should be mailed to: Lisa Winslow, 1293 School House Rd., Elizabeth City, NC 27909. (phone: 252-562-5441) by March 15, 2025. Registration fees defray general cost of workshops, including mileage and lunch for teachers, postage for mailings, paper supplies, equipment, etc.
Please DO NOT send kit fee with registration fee. Class kit fees cover the cost of supplies used in class and are due after you receive notice of confirmation of your class/workshop.

1. ALUMINUM LIGHTWEIGHT JEWELRY: one-day class, Friday, May 2nd. Students will learn to bend, hammer and shape aluminum wire into wearable jewelry. Sterling silver ear wires will be used to complete all earrings. Students will choose from a variety of patterns (earrings & pendants).

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING: Round nose pliers and nylon pliers, ball hammer or flat nose hammer, small desk lamp & extension cord (Note: some tools will be available for sharing.) Please bring a small box to take jewelry home in. Skills needed: Good eyesight, hand dexterity and patience. Beginners welcome.
KIT WILL INCLUDE: All aluminum wire and silver findings as well as a silver cleaning cloth.
2. BASKETRY –one-day class, Saturday, May 3rd. Participants will make a traditional market basket using reed from the rattan vine. Finished baskets will be 4” X 8” square. Great for beginners.

3. BEADWEAVING – “Bead-woven Bracelets” one-day class, Friday, May 2nd. Participants will learn to make a bead-woven bracelet using glass seed beads and 2-hole beads. A step-by-step instruction pattern – “Silky Stacker” – by designer Deb Roberts is included. A variety of colors will be available to select from. No experience is necessary.

5. DECOY CARVING AND PAINTING: two-day class, Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd. Students will learn or sharpen carving skills to carve and paint a Wigeon decoy. Beginners will learn basic decoy carving and experienced carvers will sharpen skills using knives and rasps, with tupelo wood and acrylic paint. No experience is required, just be in the mood for some fun learning!

Students will learn how to safely use creamed base acid etch solution and the basics of creating their own design using masking tape and contact paper as a resist. They will work with run-n-etch stencils, peel & stick stencils, and over-and-over stencils.

12. SEWING: Gadget Girls Tool Kit: one day class, Friday, May 2nd or Saturday, May 3rd. Students will work with fabric, vinyl, install zippers when and why we use stabilizer for making bags of all kinds and create a wonderful item that has many purposes, such as notions, knitting supplies, cosmetic bags and more.

13. STAINED GLASS (BASIC): two-day class Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd. Students will learn to identify and use different types of glass, glass cutting techniques, use of patterns and soldering in the copper foil techniques. Students will
create various suncatchers.
