We were thrilled to take part in the Bertie County Riverfest on June 17th. The weather was perfect, with a pleasant temperature and a refreshing breeze. Our updated tent made its debut, and we had the opportunity to share valuable information with the nearly 900 attendees who came to enjoy the festivities.
At the tent, Billy Barrow and Kathy Copeland were ready to assist. Billy shared his knowledge of vegetable gardens, Carolina lawns, bird management, soil sample boxes, and production guides. He was happy to answer any questions on these topics and more. Meanwhile, Kathy offered delicious infused waters for the visitors to sample, including strawberry, peach, cucumber, and melon blends. The residents of Bertie County enjoyed the peach and cucumber blends the most. In addition, Kathy provided valuable information and recipes for healthy drink alternatives to soft drinks. She also discussed our 4H summer camps.
Liz Baker was present at the farmers market and shared recipes for nutritious meals, discussed the benefits of the program "More in My Basket", and organized an entertaining game for children.
