Healthy Cook Camp Day One was a success. Everyone enjoyed making lasagna, tossed salad, and dirt/ocean cups. The kids painted aprons that they will wear the rest of the week as they cook. A huge thank you to Bertie County Sheriff Ruffin, Deputy Young, Deputy Battle, and Deputy Manning for stopping by and meeting the kids and talking with them. Sheriff Ruffin talked about what the Sheriff's office does in Bertie County and answered any questions the kids had. Both he and Deputy Battle spoke about what drew them to law enforcement. Sheriff Ruffin and Deputy Battles then stayed and ate the meal that the kids prepared. Deputy Battles even helped wash the dishes!
