With September just around the corner it's time to look at our peanut maturity.  Based strictly on our heat unit or growing degree day accumulation (2650 for Bailey II), early planted  fields (mid-late April) should be reaching maturity about the second week in September.  We are planning several Pod Blasting sessions beginning September 3,at 8:30 a.m. at Powell and Stokes. Later dates and locations are listed below: All sessions begin at 8:30 a.m.

September 9  Colerain  Peanut and Supply

September 11  Powell and Stokes

September 16  Harvey's Fertilizer (Trap)

September 23  Powell and Stokes

Samples should be fresh pulled or if collected the evening before, removed from the vine and kept in water. Generally we need samples from 2-3 spots in the field about a foot each.  From these remove all the pods that are harvestable. Avoid areas that are not representative of the field.  This is the most critical part of the process, getting a representative sample.  If you have any questions, please give us a call at 252 794-5317.
