Cotton bollworm (also known as corn earworm) pressure is always a threat to our cotton and soybean crops during mid to late summer.  It appears the first moth flight has passed as moth trap counts across most of the state have declined.  However, there is some thought that a second flight will occur.  Growers should stay alert and continue to monitor their cotton and soybean fields for infestations.  For more information see this article from Anders Huseth, NC State Extension Entomologist.
