Last month, a group of eight campers took part in the Babysitters Backpack Course, which covered five important topics: Basics, Best Practices, Safety, Positive Discipline, and Business. This course aims to teach essential skills to youths aged 11 to 14, allowing them to care for younger children. Upon completion, the young participants received a bookbag containing a first aid kit, a book, a game, a list of emergency contact numbers, and a certificate that they can present to their future clients as proof of completion of the training workshop.
Babysitter Backpack Camp
Parents prefer to leave their children with trained babysitters who can provide excellent care. The campers learned how to advertise their babysitting services, by creating flyers and business cards. They also acquired basic first aid and CPR skills in preparation for emergencies.
This program is supported by the N.C. Cooperative Extension and Local Government Agencies. For more information, contact Liz Baker at liz_baker@ncsu.edu or 252-794-6179.
