4-H River Day Camp

(Updated: July 2, 2024, 3:23 p.m.)

Did you know the Cashie River is a blackwater river? Our campers had the opportunity to visit the Cashie River Center here in Windsor for one of our day camps! It was a warm day but we had fun!

Students inspect relics and ride a boat together.

We began our day by exploring the River Center museum. There, the campers learned a lot of information about the river and what it was used for. Mr. Joe told us many interesting facts throughout the day. One that stood out the most to the campers is that the river was used to deliver goods that may have been ordered but it could take up to 40 days to even receive your package!

We then suited up in our life jackets and took a ride on the pontoon boat. Some of us were a little scared, including an adult but we overcame our fear of water and boats! We also had the chance to sight some birds, fish and turtles during our ride on the pontoon boat.

We ended our day with some lunch and cool drinks!
