2024 Upper Coastal Plain Corn Hybrid Test Update

The Upper Coastal Plain corn hybrid evaluation team has installed 13 corn test locations this year in Bertie, Edgecombe, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Pitt, and Washington counties.

In Bertie County, we have partnered with cooperators at two sites this year, one under irrigation in Colerain and the other in Lewiston-Woodville under dryland conditions.

As Agricultural Extension Agents, these on-farm hybrid evaluation tests help us provide research-based knowledge for our producers on which hybrids best fit our region. Correct and effective hybrid and variety selection is a farmer's most important decision. Utilizing on-farm and official variety testing data to guide you is your best tool, and the information for making those decisions in 2025 starts here.
