If you haven’t already been taking soil samples for next year it is time to get started. To help prevent soil fertility from being the yield-limiting factor soil samples can be sent to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) for routine and diagnostic testing.

For samples received by NCDA&CS from now until Thanksgiving 2022, the testing will be free of charge. Samples received after that time will be charged $4/sample.

As of today the estimated processing time for routine soil samples is 3 weeks.

Please swing by the Bertie County Center Extension office for your soil sampling supplies.

We currently have large and small shippers, and soil sampling boxes on hand.

We also have soil sample submittal forms in the office but if you’d like to print those off please use the appropriate links below. Please follow the directions and helpful tips for each.
